The Pubs

The Blue Bell Inn

The Blue Bell Inn

A very smart Sam Smith's house, having undergone a thorough and classy refurbishment around 2006. On the right is a spacious vault and to the left three additional rooms - a large lounge with parquet, wraps itself around the bar counter, whilst off this is a smaller carpeted lounge and a snug. At the rear is a spacious garden with plenty of seating to enjoy summer days in.

Recommended drink: A fruit beer - cherry, raspberry, or apricot

Station Hop

Station Hop

Small, spartanly-furnished room including bar at the front. Bare-boarded with just one table, and a few high stools on which to perch yourself by the wall or the front windows. A multi-tier bookcase displays an array of bottles and cans for sale. Ascending three steps leads you to two rooms in succession which have a good deal more places to sit at tables; these rooms exude a warmer, more homely feel than the front of the pub. Small beer garden at the rear that plays host to street-food traders selling their hot food on 5-9 Fri-Sat. Four handpumps are prominent on the bar, plus ten keg taps on the wall (they variously feature IPAs, stouts, reds, and a sour / saison). They always have pies, and Scotch eggs / veggie-Scotch eggs.

Recommended drink: A craft beer

The Union Inn

The Union Inn

Rather small two-room interior; central bar with the rooms either side. Resolutely on keg-only beer for many, many years.

Recommended drink:

Overdraught

Overdraught

Set in former bank retail premises (the name reflecting that history), this keg-only bar adds to the Levenshulme drinking scene. An open space, with the bar down one side. Rustic in style with much use made of bare brick walls, and unfinished wood, this is softened by some upholstered furnishings, plenty of hops hanging from the ceiling and bar, and the clever use of mirrors. There are no fewer than 30 keg taps, this may be the highest number in any bar in Manchester!

Recommended drink: A craft beer from the blackboard

The Levenshulme

The Levenshulme

Welcome to The Levenshulme, your cheery local based in Manchester. We show live sports every day, so you can watch the big game with a cold, refreshing pint of your favourite lager, dogs welcome!

Recommended drink: A bottle of prosecco to share

The Talleyrand

The Talleyrand

Open since summer 2018, The Talleyrand is an arty and eccentric little bar with a packed programme of live music, DJs, poetry, comedy, theatre, film, and art exhibitions. It takes its name from an area of East Levenshulme that was originally named in honour of French diplomat Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand-Perigord. Whether it’s wonky indie, folk or soul that gets your feet tapping, there’s probably something for you on the calendar and the art on display is equally diverse and exciting. The bar area itself is understated with exposed floorboards and mismatched wooden furniture. Their bar boasts a wide range of beers and ales – from Camden to Tiny Rebel – as well as spirits, wines and softs.

Recommended drink: Wine

Nordie

Nordie

Small keg bar on corner site by the side of the former Fallowfield Loop rail line. Long interior with bar to the back, right-hand side. The side windows allow plenty of light into the open and modern space. Outside at the rear is a pleasant drinking area away from the buzz of Stockport Road. NB card payments only, no cash.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What time does the pub crawl start?

We recommend starting at 12pm at The Bluebell Inn to give you enough time to visit all 11 pubs.

  • How do I join the pub crawl?

There is no organised event - simply gather some friends and turn up! If it's a large group, we recommend contacting the pubs to let them know so they can be prepared.

  • Is there a dress code?

There's no dress code, but we encourage participants to wear something fun!

  • Are there places to eat along the way?

We have included an icon next to a pub if it serves food. Our top tip is to start the Levenshulme Eleven at 11am with a brunch at one of the many fabulous food establishments in Levenshulme. Our favourites not included in the route are BIA, The Antiques Cafe, and Sips n Dips. For eating later on, why not pick up a takeaway and take it to eat at your stop at the Overdraught.

  • What happens if a pub is closed on the day?

You may find some pubs are closed on the day due to private functions. We are lucky in Levenshulme that there are more than eleven fantastic pubs! Swap out a closed pub for one not on the recommended route, such as BIA, Isca, and The Sidings.
